Message from UTAR President
I am pleased to welcome all new students to UTAR. On behalf of the university, I would like to thank all of you for choosing UTAR as your university of choice.
We will do our best to make your educational journey at UTAR a fulfilling one with a meaningful sense of purpose and achievements. We hope you will find new experiences on campus that will engage your creativity, enhance your potential towards greater achievements and spark your curiosity to explore and learn more for an overall progressive journey in personal growth.
As a university by the people, for the people, UTAR has always been a university with a solid foundation, a strong sense of community spirit and a reputation for academic and research excellence. With a scenic campus in Kampar and a purpose-built campus in Sungai Long, UTAR has a growing regional presence and an expanding international profile with over 500 international partners, more than 100 external examiners from 18 economies and more than 130 industry advisors for our academic programmes.
Our focus on quality education and research excellence have led the university to attain numerous local and international awards by both students and staff. We encourage students to be involved in campus co-curricular activities by joining our clubs and societies, and the many webinars, online short courses, workshops, trainings, community projects, competitions and the local and international conferences that involve the international community and the industry. Our campus is a vibrant campus filled with many activities conducted online, in hybrid modes and on campus following the safety and health standard operating procedures.
We believe that a good university education must also incorporate learning outside the classroom, interaction with the community and learning from the best in the industry. The acquisition of knowledge must also be in tandem with the development of soft skills for an overall balanced personal growth. UTAR is constantly engaged in charitable and voluntary community events that work towards helping the community in various causes, including fund-raising for UTAR Hospital which is a not-for-profit private hospital that will provide quality and affordable medical and health services to the local and surrounding community. We look forward to your support for the hospital.
The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed university learning to include online teaching and learning, in addition to physical face-to-face classes and the hybrid mode. Such mixed modes of learning will continue to be a feature in educational institutions, and more concerted efforts have been placed to include online extra-curricular activities for students to keep them active even at home. In the next few years of your university life, I hope you will make new friends and experience campus life to add on to your growing perspective of life, enhance your personality, and help you gain valuable life lessons.
Once again, we welcome our new students to UTAR and we look forward to your commitment and participation in your programme of study. An exciting journey awaits you. Do your best to make it a memorable and successful one.
